Hulu has unveiled the first official images from The Testaments, its upcoming spinoff of The Handmaid’s Tale, offering a detailed look at the next generation of Gilead — including June Osborne’s daughter, Agnes. The photos were released on Saturday, December 6, as part of the streaming platform’s early campaign for the series.

The preview highlights Chase Infiniti as Agnes (formerly known as Hannah before her placement in Gilead), dressed in the purple attire of “Wives School.” Additional images show Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Isolde Ardies, and Birva Pandya in coordinated lilac outfits, hinting at their shared role in Gilead’s rigid social structure. Ann Dowd also appears as Aunt Lydia, continuing her prominent role from the original series.

The caption shared on social media announced that the spinoff will premiere in April 2026, describing it as “a defiant coming of age story.”

Based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel, The Testaments takes place roughly 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale and follows multiple perspectives, including Aunt Lydia, Agnes, and Daisy — later revealed in the book to be Baby Nichole, June’s other daughter. The story centers on the young women’s transformation into “Pearl Girls,” missionaries tasked with gathering evidence against Gilead’s leadership.

Showrunner Yahlin Chang previously told TV Insider that the sixth-season finale of The Handmaid’s Tale was intentionally structured to set up the spinoff, leaving narrative space for The Testaments to expand on unresolved plotlines. She noted that while the original series concludes several arcs, it intentionally leaves others open to be explored in the new show.

The cast for The Testaments will largely move beyond the original ensemble. Samira Wiley (Moira) told Us Weekly earlier this year that she does not expect to return, saying she feels ready to step away from her character’s long and emotionally taxing storyline. However, O-T Fagbenle (Luke) and Sam Jaeger (Mark Tuello) expressed openness to making an appearance if asked.

Atwood has explained that the sequel novel allowed her to examine the downfall of Gilead, especially since the original story had already established the regime’s eventual disappearance in the distant future. She viewed The Testaments as a way to explore how such authoritarian systems collapse from within.

The Testaments will debut on Hulu in April 2026, with promotional imagery suggesting a strong visual and thematic continuation of the original series while shifting its focus toward a new generation raised inside Gilead.
