Netflix’s new Western series The Abandons brings together a wide cast led by Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, as the drama follows two opposing matriarchs locked in a dispute over land, power, and survival in the fictional town of Jasper Hollow.
Created by Kurt Sutter, the seven-episode series centres on a conflict that escalates from a business disagreement into personal and deadly territory.
Headey portrays Fiona Nolan, a devout Irish Catholic who has taken in four orphans as her own. Her settlement sits on land rich in silver, attracting the interest of Constance Van Ness, played by Anderson.
Constance, the head of a European aristocratic family and a mother seeking answers after her son Willem goes missing, becomes determined to claim the territory for herself.
The series also features Lucas Till as Garret Van Ness, Constance’s younger son, who steps forward after Willem’s disappearance. Till’s character carries the superiority associated with the Van Ness family, particularly in his interactions with the orphans under Fiona’s care.
Aisling Franciosi appears as Trisha Van Ness, noted in the series as the gentlest member of the family, who secretly forms a bond with Elias, one of Fiona’s adopted sons.
Nick Robinson plays Elias Teller, Fiona’s right-hand figure in managing the land, while Diana Silvers appears as his sister Dahlia, whose early confrontation with Willem intensifies tensions between the families.
Lamar Johnson joins the cast as Albert Mason, an educated man adopted into Fiona’s household, while Natalia del Riego portrays Lilla Belle, another of Fiona’s adopted children.
Additional cast members include Michiel Huisman as Xavier Roache, an outlaw hired by Constance, Ryan Hurst as settlement member Miles Alderton, and Katelyn Wells as his daughter, Samara.
Their stories collectively build the wider conflict shaping Jasper Hollow as The Abandons unfolds on Netflix.
