Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau met former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko Kishida during a recent visit to Japan, marking another public moment in the pair’s developing relationship.

Kishida, who served as Japan’s leader from 2021 to 2024, confirmed the meeting in a post shared on 4 December, writing, “Former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau came to Japan with his partner Katy Perry and had lunch with us".

The photograph accompanying Kishida’s message shows the four smiling in front of a Christmas tree. Perry wore an army green two-piece skirt set with a black turtleneck, tights and black boots, while Trudeau opted for a grey suit with a light blue shirt and tie.

Trudeau, who stepped down from Canadian politics in January 2025, has appeared increasingly in public with Perry as their relationship becomes more established. Responding to Kishida’s post, he wrote, “Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.

The singer, who shares daughter Daisy Dove with former partner Orlando Bloom, and the former prime minister were first seen dining together in the summer. Perry publicly acknowledged their relationship in October, and the couple have since attended several engagements together.

The growing attention surrounding their partnership has coincided with comments from Trudeau’s estranged wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, who separated from him in 2023.
