Wife axes husband to death over domestic dispute

Suspect allegedly strikes spouse in head while he was lying on charpoy

FAISALABAD:

A woman allegedly killed her husband with repeated axe blows following a domestic dispute in Chak 73-JB, within the jurisdiction of Thikriwala Police Station.

Police arrested the suspect and registered a case.

According to the police report, 40-year-old Ali Asghar had frequent quarrels with his wife, Sajida Bibi, over minor household issues.

On Thursday evening, Ali Asghar was lying on a charpoy in the courtyard when his wife, also 40 and mother of six, attacked him from behind, striking his head multiple times with an axe.

He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Upon receiving information, SHO Thikriwala Mian Wajid and other officers reached the crime scene, took the accused into custody, shifted the body to the hospital for postmortem, and initiated further proceedings.

Police said the couple often clashed over small matters, which allegedly led Sajida Bibi to commit the murder. The deceased leaves behind five daughters and one son. Thikriwala Police are investigating the case.

Meanwhile, a woman who had initially filed a gang-rape case, along with two witnesses, has been booked for allegedly taking money from the accused and giving a false statement in court to help them evade conviction.

According to the police report, Inspector Saleha Khalid of Circle Peoples Colony lodged a complaint at Madina Town Police Station regarding a case filed by Samreen, a resident of 204-RB.

After accusing Ejaz and others of gang rape, Samreen allegedly received money from the nominated suspects at the Hockey Stadium on Susan Road. She then appeared in court and recorded a statement under Section 164 CrPC in favour of the accused, resulting in their discharge from the case.

Police further stated that witnesses Asher Hussain, a resident of Salimi Chowk and Raheel Tahir, a resident of Mohallah Tariqabad, also accepted money from the suspects and helped them escape punishment.

Samreen had earlier recorded her statement before the CMO at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Hospital, claiming she had been sexually assaulted and on that basis, the FIR was registered. However, police say she later deliberately misled authorities with a false statement.

Madina Town Police have now registered a case against Samreen and the two witnesses under Sections 22.2A, 22.2B, and 213 of the Anti-Rape Act 2021. All three have been arrested.
