At the 2025 Gotham Awards, Hugh Jackman didn’t hold back his admiration for his Song Sung Blue co-star Kate Hudson, and he made a bold prediction about her career.

While accepting the inaugural Gotham Musical Tribute alongside Hudson, he called her “a consummate actor” and said he truly believes she will win her first Oscar for her performance in the highly anticipated musical biopic.

Jackman and Hudson play Mike and Claire Sardina, members of a Neil Diamond tribute band, in the film, which is set to hit theaters on December 25.

Their on-screen chemistry and musical performances have already generated considerable buzz ahead of the release, with critics praising Hudson’s expressive vocals and emotional range.

Hudson, who hasn’t been nominated for an Oscar since her Supporting Actress nod for Almost Famous in 2000, appeared both honored and humble in response to Jackman’s glowing remarks.

She acknowledged the praise but kept the focus on the teamwork and dedication required to bring the film to life.

During his speech, Jackman added a playful note, joking that the recognition might make his longtime friend Ryan Reynolds “insanely jealous,” drawing laughter from the audience.

His comments highlighted not only his respect for Hudson’s talent but also the camaraderie among Hollywood’s leading performers.

With Song Sung Blue set for a holiday release, the anticipation is high, and Jackman’s prediction may have fans looking even more closely at Hudson’s Oscar potential this awards season.
