JoJo Siwa has shared details of the medical emergency that sent her to the hospital shortly before a scheduled performance at the Mall of America on November 28.

The singer and former Dance Moms cast member posted a photo of herself on a stretcher before later explaining the situation in a TikTok update.

Siwa said she had been experiencing stomach pain for several days, particularly when dancing or walking. “Every time that I've been dancing for the last couple of days or even just like walking like anything, my stomach would just really, really hurt,” she said.

She initially assumed it might be cramps, but the pain intensified on Friday morning. She attempted to rest but said, “I laid down, I closed my eyes, and I was like, ‘I can't breathe.’”

She said she tried getting into a bath to calm her muscles, but the pain quickly worsened. “I was in [the bathtub] for maybe four minutes… I knew I was gonna black out and I felt like I was gonna throw up.”

She called her mother, who asked whether she should phone 911. Siwa agreed, and EMTs took her to the hospital. She noted that her vitals appeared normal, so the cause was not immediately clear.

At the hospital, an ultrasound revealed that “one of my ovaries had a cyst on it that burst and was bleeding into my stomach.” Siwa said the pain was triggered “anytime that the blood in your stomach moves,” describing it as “brutal.” She was given pain medication and told that the issue should resolve naturally.

Despite the episode, she returned to complete her scheduled performance. She said she will need a follow-up check in one week, but plans to continue working.

Siwa thanked supporters for their messages and said she was “doing all right,” though not yet “100%.”
