Wonder man teaser spotlights Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery and his eccentric acting method
Marvel Studios has released a new teaser for Wonder Man, putting the spotlight on Ben Kingsley’s returning MCU character, Trevor Slattery.
The promo blends humor and self-parody as Slattery delivers an overly dramatic monologue about his so-called “Slattery Method,” an eccentric acting philosophy he claims will shape the next generation of performers.
The teaser opens with Slattery proclaiming, “Acting isn’t a job. It’s a calling,” before guiding viewers through exaggerated breathing exercises and inviting them to “become the next Trevor Slattery.” The video also includes a hotline number for those who want to join his fictional acting class, further blurring the line between in-universe jokes and marketing for Wonder Man.
The upcoming Marvel series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a struggling actor who finds himself drawn into the world of eccentric director Von Kovak, played by Zlatko Burić. The teaser suggests that Williams may seek guidance from Slattery as he navigates Hollywood’s chaos. As in the comics, Williams is expected to eventually gain ionic powers, transforming him into the superhero Wonder Man.
Slattery’s return marks another chapter in the character’s redemption arc. While his controversial twist in Iron Man 3 polarized fans, Kingsley’s later appearance in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings reignited interest in the character. Wonder Man now positions him as an odd but charming mentor, leaning fully into his comedic strengths.
