Two killed, one critically injured in Bajaur explosion
DPO Bajaur Waqas Rafiq says police have launched full investigation to determine the circumstances leading to blast

A tragic explosion occurred in the Jannat Shah area of Khar Tehsil, Bajaur, under the jurisdiction of Loi Sam police station, when an abandoned explosive device detonated, killing two people and leaving one critically injured. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene upon receiving the report. The victims were quickly transported to Khar Hospital.
According to Bajaur Rescue Officer Amjad Khan, the deceased have been identified as 18-year-old Shamshad, son of Wasal Khan, and 22-year-old Usman, son of Niaz Ali. The injured, 25-year-old Qiyam, son of Inayat Rahman, is in critical condition and receiving intensive medical care.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur Waqas Rafiq confirmed the incident and stated that police have launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the blast. He added that the police bomb disposal squad regularly defuses unexploded shells and explosives in the area to prevent such incidents. However, old munitions hidden in fields and residential areas continue to pose a serious risk to local residents.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious materials to the nearest police station to prevent further casualties. The community has expressed shock and grief over the tragic loss of young lives in the area.
