K-P facing deep crisis due to PTI's incompetence: Sikandar Sherpao

QWP leader says provincial govt's focus is only on Imran Khan’s release and protest politics

PESHAWAR:

Qaumi Watan Party provincial chief Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao has said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is facing a deep administrative crisis, worsening lawlessness, and growing backwardness, all due to the incompetence, flawed policies, and poor governance of the ruling party.

He expressed these views while addressing a joint press conference in district Charsadda, where Maulana Pir Safiullah, a senior leader of JUI Charsadda, along with dozens of supporters and family members, announced his decision to join QWP.

Welcoming the new entrants, Sikandar Sherpao said the QWP is a representative platform for the people from every walk of life. He added that the latest wave of political joining clearly shows that QWP has become the leading voice for religious scholars, political and social figures, advocates for Pakhtun rights, lawyers, and the youth.

Sherpao said the people of the province are suffering from multiple crises caused by the ruling party’s negligence and misguided decisions, which have further pushed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa into backwardness. He said that instead of addressing public issues, the government remains focused on Imran Khan’s release and protest politics, neglecting the province’s core problems.

He criticised the government for its failure to provide basic facilities, the deteriorating condition of educational institutions, declining performance in the health sector, rising inflation, electricity and gas load-shedding, and shrinking employment opportunities, all of which, he said, reflect the collapse of governance.

Sherpao recalled that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been ruling the province since 2013, while in the first such prolonged tenure in the province’s political history, the people remain deprived of essential services such as education, healthcare, and employment.

He said PTI had announced so-called 'education and health emergencies' in its first government, but ground realities contradict those claims, pointing to anti-public steps such as the privatisation of government schools and hospitals.

QWP Provincial General Secretary Dr Farooq Afzal, Provincial Vice Chairman Hashim Khan, QWP Swabi Chairman Masood Jabbar, and a large number of party leaders, workers, and supporters from Charsadda attended the conference.
