'Witch Hat Atelier' anime reveals new trailer as Bug Films confirms April 2026 premiere
Bug Films has released a new trailer for 'Witch Hat Atelier' and confirmed an April 2026 premiere

Bug Films has released a new trailer for Witch Hat Atelier and confirmed that the anime will premiere in April 2026. The announcement was made on November 18, alongside new key visuals, cast details and confirmation that Crunchyroll will stream the series outside Japan.
The anime is based on the manga by Kamome Shirahama and follows Coco, a young girl who dreams of becoming a witch in a society where magic is woven into everyday life but is believed to be restricted to those born with it.
The trailer introduces Coco in a rural setting, carrying out daily tasks with little enthusiasm. Her life changes when she observes the travelling witch Qifrey drawing a sigil to cast magic.
By copying the sigil, Coco triggers an uncontrolled burst of magical energy at home before being rescued by Qifrey. This moment exposes what the trailer describes as an “absolute secret that must never be known” and leads to Coco becoming Qifrey’s apprentice.
A line near the end of the trailer reads: “This is the story of children who encounter despair, yet reach out toward hope.” The final shot shows Coco receiving her own pointed witch hat.
Rena Motomura and Natsuki Hanae will voice Coco and Qifrey. Ayumu Watanabe directs the series, with character designs by Kairi Unabara and music composed by Yuka Kitamura.
Motomura told Crunchyroll that reading the manga reminded her of childhood memories and long-held dreams, saying the adaptation brought Shirahama’s world “to life as the ultimate anime.” Hanae said he was honoured to portray Qifrey, describing the character’s gentle but melancholic presence.
Shirahama’s manga has sold more than 7 million copies. The anime adaptation was first announced in April 2022 and planned for 2025, but was delayed in September to allow the studio, in its words, “to present the charm of the project at an even higher quality.”
