Legend of Zelda live-action film reveals first look at Link and Zelda in new images
Legend of Zelda live-action movie first look shows Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link

Sony and Nintendo have released the first official images from their live-action Legend of Zelda movie, showing Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.
The photos, shared via the Nintendo Today app on November 17 2025, depict the characters in a green field, with Zelda holding her signature bow and both actors wearing costumes with Hylian ears.

The film is directed by Wes Ball, known for the Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and the screenplay is written by Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly. Nintendo has stated that it is “deeply involved” in the production, with Shigeru Miyamoto overseeing the adaptation.
Miyamoto previously commented that “just following the plot points of the video games will never work as a movie,” emphasising a new story rather than a literal adaptation of the games.

Bo Bragason, 21, is known for roles in BBC One’s Three Girls, The Jetty and Disney+’s Renegade Nell, and previously provided motion capture for Young Luna in the Final Fantasy XV tie-in film Kingsglaive.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, 16, starred in Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor, voiced Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action remake, and appears in the Canadian series Son of a Critch.
The live-action Legend of Zelda film is scheduled for worldwide release on May 7 2027, with filming now underway in New Zealand. Nintendo confirmed that production remains on track and asked fans to “wait patiently and look forward to it.”
No trailer has yet been released, and plot details remain under wraps. Miyamoto’s comments suggest the story will explore a fresh narrative inspired by the franchise rather than a direct retelling.
Fans of the video game series have expressed excitement online at the first glimpse of Link and Zelda brought to life, with further updates expected as filming progresses.
