QUETTA:

Pakistan Railways has announced the temporary suspension of the Jaffar Express service between Quetta and Peshawar for four days, citing heightened security concerns and the need to ensure passenger safety.

According to railway officials, the train service will remain suspended from November 9 to November 12.

The decision comes as a precautionary measure following security assessments and recommendations from law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Officials said that the suspension was aimed at protecting passengers, railway staff and railway property from any potential threat.

However, authorities confirmed that the Jaffar Express scheduled to depart on Saturday, November 8, will operate according to its normal timetable, ensuring that passengers who have already booked tickets are able to travel without disruption.

Sources pointed out that the Jaffar Express has previously been targeted in multiple terrorist attacks, resulting in the tragic loss of lives and damage to railway property.

These past incidents have made the train route particularly sensitive, prompting security agencies to recommend temporary suspension during periods of increased risk.

The Jaffar Express is considered one of Pakistan Railways' most important passenger trains, connecting Balochistan with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and serving as a vital transport link for commuters, travellers and traders along the interprovincial route.

It has long been relied upon by passengers travelling for work, education and family visits.
