Two injured in a clash over government house
the official residence in G-6/2 was in the possession of DMG officer who is posted in the Economic Affairs Division
ISLAMABAD:
Two persons were injured in a clash between two groups over the possession of a government house in Aabpara area on Tuesday. The Aabpara police registered a case against Estate Officer Nazar Mohammad and a police assistant sub-inspector who is on deputation at the Estate Office, on the complaint of one of the injured men.
The police said that the official residence in G-6/2 was in the possession of District Management Group (DMG) officer Mohammad Ali, who is posted in the Economic Affairs Division and currently in Japan on some assignment. A few months back, the Estate Office cancelled the allotment of the house and allotted it to Sajida Rafique, a stenographer in the National Assembly. Ali approached a court of law and obtained a stay against the Estate Office decision, which was cancelled by the court on Monday.
Three officials of the Estate Office along with six policemen and the stenographer’s relative, Abdul Basit, reached the house to get the possession. However, Ali’s brother, Mehmood Ahmad, along with 15 other people resisted them.
A scuffle broke out between the two sides during which they thrashed each other and pelted their vehicles with stones. Gunshots were also fired and two bullets hit Mehmood Ahmad in the hip.
While running for cover, Abdul Basit fell on the road and was trampled. The police shifted the injured to Pims. Estate Office staff and the policemen were shifted to Aabpara police station and their weapons were seized. They told the police that they did not open fire, which according to police, was confirmed during examination of the weapons.
However, a case was registered against an estate officer and the ASI in response to a complaint lodged by Mehmood Ahmad. The police are investigating the incident and also trying to trace those involved in opening the fire.
