ISLAMABAD:

In these times of uncertainty and insecurity, students of Beaconhouse School System held a walk for peace on the occasion of International Peace Day on Wednesday.

Scores of students, teachers and civil society members participated in the peace walk and vowed to contribute towards bringing peace to the society through word and thought. A moment’s silence was observed by the students on the occasion. Students presented thematic poems and dialogue.

They also held placards and banners inscribed with slogans and the symbol of peace.

“Today, we wish for peace and spread the message of bringing peace and tranquillity to the society,” said Mehwish Naz, a student. She added that our society needs special prayers and patience as the incidents of violence are on the rise in the country.

Adnan Ali, another student said that all of us should have respect for others, which is key to create a peaceful society. Students are the future of any country and could reform a society with the message of peace, he added.

The event was organised by Message Trust, a nongovernmental organisation.
