Bannu on edge after constable kidnapped
Villagers detain militant's kin after abduction

Tensions flared in Bannu district after unidentified armed terrorists kidnapped a police constable from the Huweid Bazaar area, prompting local residents to take matters into their own hands. According to locals, terrorists abducted the constable within the jurisdiction of Huweid Police Station and fled the scene.
Upon learning of the incident, residents of Sardikhel along with local police launched a search and detained the father and brother of a suspected commander from their home. The villagers declared that they would not release the detained family members until the kidnapped police constable was safely recovered.
The abduction has further heightened tension in the already sensitive region, where sporadic terrorist activities have been reported in recent months. Law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to trace the abductors and secure the constable's release. Meanwhile, senior police officials are in contact with tribal elders to defuse the situation and prevent escalation.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether any negotiation channels have been opened for the constable's recovery, but efforts are underway to resolve the standoff peacefully.
