LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court chief justice on Wednesday directed the district coordination officer (DCO) to submit a report about progress on computerisation of the Revenue Department’s record and introduction of a mechanism to end tampering with records by the patwaris.

Earlier, a law officer informed the court that Patwari Mehboob Sarwar, who had demanded illegal gratification to issue an ownership certificate, had been terminated from service.

He said that complaints against such patwaris could be lodged with assistant commissioners. Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry remarked that assistant commissioners ‘were not angels and were accused of receiving their share from patwaris.’ The CJ adjourned the next hearing till October 10 and directed the DCO to keep the court informed of any progress.
