LAHORE:

The Punjab government has approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre to improve traffic surveillance and management on the Lahore Ring Road.

The decision was taken on the direction of Provincial Minister for Communication and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath, who chaired a high-level meeting to review the project's technical and administrative details.

The meeting was attended by C&W Secretary Sohail Ashraf, Punjab Ring Road Authority Chairman Faisal Fareed and senior officials from relevant departments.

As per the briefing, the Command and Control Centre will be constructed at the headquarters of the Ring Road Authority at an estimated cost of Rs871 million and is expected to be completed within four months.

Equipped with cutting-edge monitoring technology, the facility will include 42 large display screens and 20 analytical screens to enable real-time surveillance of nearly 150,000 vehicles using the Lahore Ring Road daily.
