Pakistani folk, Sufi, and spiritual singer Sanam Marvi captivated a packed audience on Sunday with her soul-stirring performance at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris.

According to an official release issued, the concert was co-organised by the Embassy of Pakistan in France and the Théâtre de la Ville, offering Parisians a rare opportunity to experience a Pakistani artist celebrated for both her powerful vocals and her embodiment of Pakistan’s rich spiritual heritage.

Pakistan's Ambassador to France Mumtaz Zahra Baloch praised Marvi and her ensemble for their mesmerising performance and expressed gratitude to the Théâtre management for once again bringing Pakistani music to life in the city of lights. She particularly acknowledged Soudabeh Kia, Conseillère Musique du Monde, for her continued support of global art and music, noting that the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had also performed at the same venue.

Ambassador Baloch underscored the importance of cultural diplomacy, saying that it connects people, societies, and nations. She expressed delight at the success of the sold-out concert and voiced hope for further collaborations in the performing arts between Pakistan and France. Sharing her experience, Marvi said, “Music is the spice of life, and we love our traditional music.” She expressed gratitude for the appreciation shown by the large international audience.

Born in Sindh, Marvi began singing at an early age and has since earned international recognition for her distinctive style of folk and Sufi music.

The Théâtre de la Ville management said that performances like Marvi’s offer French audiences a chance to enjoy diverse musical traditions from around the world. They added that “music has no boundaries,” and the purpose of the programme was to promote love for international music and introduce French audiences to artists and cultures from abroad.
