Top police, FIA officials summoned in abduction case
.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday summoned the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) to appear in person on coming Tuesday in connection with the alleged abduction of a woman and her minor daughters from Lahore and Bahawalpur.
The court also directed the FIA DG to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter. The hearing was presided over by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani.
During the proceedings, the court was informed that on September 17, a woman and her three young daughters had been taken from Lahore and were subsequently named in a First Information Report (FIR) registered at Tarnol Police Station on September 20.
Justice Kayani observed that the sanctity of the home and the privacy of the family (chadar aur chardiwari) had been blatantly violated by the police, and strongly reprimanded the investigating officer (IO), asking, "Why should you not be sent home?"
Video evidence showing the woman, her children, household belongings, cash, and vehicles being taken away was also presented before the court.
Expressing serious concern and disapproval over the incident, the court ordered the senior officials to appear personally and adjourned further proceedings until Tuesday.
