3,000kg of rotten meat seized

BAHAWALPUR:

A joint operation was carried out against the sale of unhygienic meat.

The operation was conducted by a team of officials from the Bahawalpur livestock department an the Punjab Food Authority (PFA).

It raided a private slaughterhouse and adjoining butcher shop near Shikarpuri Gate, where approximately 3,000kg of rotten and unhygienic beef was seized.

According to the Punjab Food Authority, the seized meat was extremely hazardous for human health.

Had the action not been taken, it could have been distributed throughout the city, posing a serious threat to public health safety.

Those involved in the illegal activity were arrested on the spot and handed over to local police. Both the slaughterhouse and the butcher shop were sealed, and legal proceedings initiated under the Food Safety Act.
