'Yaad-e-Salamat' brings together classical maestros at Alhamra

The Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra) hosted a magnificent two-day cultural festival, "Yaad-e-Salamat," to honour the legendary classical vocalist Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, whose unmatched contributions to South Asian music continue to inspire artists across generations.
The event transformed Alhamra into a vibrant hub of rhythm and remembrance, bringing together some of Pakistan's most renowned classical performers in tribute to the maestro's enduring legacy.
The festival opened with an evening of soulful performances that celebrated the Patiala Gharana tradition.
Artists including Shan Akhtar Ali Khan, Kashif and Shozib Ali Khan, Rana Ayaz, Sarwat and Sadat Ali Khan, along with instrumentalists Saleem Khan (sitar) and Hanif Khan (flute), captivated the audience with mesmerising renditions.
The night reached its emotional peak when Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan, son of the late maestro, delivered a powerful and heartfelt performance that earned a standing ovation.
The second evening brought another wave of brilliance, featuring Sultan and Salman Waris, Hamdan Ahmed (sitar), Muzammil Hussain, Pappu Samrat (dance), Bilal Lashari, Arsh Ali Khan, Rashid Ali Khan (saxophone), Akmal Qadri (flute), and Shujat Ali Khan. Their performances seamlessly bridged tradition and modern expression, reflecting how Ustad Salamat Ali Khan's artistry continues to shape Pakistan's musical identity.
