KARACHI:

India started to get upset after not receiving the Asia Cup trophy, and they sent two letters to the Asian Cricket Council.

Mohsin Naqvi responded to the letters by asking BCCI to send an official and a player for the ceremony in Dubai on November 10, after which the Indian board is chosing to stay silent for the time being.

According to details, India tarnished the Asia Cup held last month with its politics.

After the handshake dispute, the BCCI created more drama by not receiving the trophy from the ACC President Mohson Naqvi at the award ceremony of the Asia Cup final in Dubai last month.

The relations between Pakistan and India are strained as the neighbours went to war with each other in May.

India chose not to engage with Pakistan on a friendly or sportsmanly basis.

Naqvi had made it clear that now the trophy will have to be received by coming to the office.

Sources said that in the second week of this month, the Indian Cricket Board Vice President Rajiv Shukla sent a letter to the Asian Cricket Council.

He demanded that they win the Asia Cup, so the trophy should be given to them.

In response, Mohsin Naqvi wrote that on November 10, the ACC are organising a ceremony in Dubai.

The BCCI can also bring a member of the winning squad with them and receive the trophy.

Sources said that on October 20, Rajiv Shukla sent another letter to the ACC and reiterated the demand to send the trophy.

The BCCI wants the trophy to be sent to them through a courier service.

If any of its officials went to Dubai to receive it, then the question will arise as to why there was a need to create drama after the final.

However, Mohsin Naqvi also took a stand. The ACC are adamant that if they want to receive the trophy, they will have to come to the ACC office.

Sources further added that Indian officials are sitting in a heated argument with the PCB chairman and ACC president, but nothing is happening.

The ICC cannot force the ACC to send the trophy.
