30-million-gallon water treatment plant installed in Faisalabad
Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin has said that a 30-million-gallon-per-day water treatment plant project has been launched under the supervision of WASA Faisalabad to provide safe drinking water to the public.
Once completed, the project will supply clean water to more than 600,000 residents of the city.
The minister made these remarks during his visit to the French Project Phase-II site located on MakuanaJaranwala Road.
He was accompanied by Punjab WASA DG Tayyab Fareed, Faisalabad WASA MD Sohail Qadir Cheema, Lahore WASA MD Ghufran Ahmad among others.
During the visit, Faisalabad WASA MD Sohail Qadir Cheema gave a detailed briefing to the minister on the project's progress, while Project Director Saqib Raza highlighted various stages of the ongoing construction. Bilal Yasin said that under the collaboration between the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Government of Punjab, construction work has commenced on the Surface Water Treatment Plant Project, costing Rs22 billion. Once operational, the project will add 30 million gallons per day to WASA Faisalabad's supply system, increasing the city's total clean water output by nearly 30 percent.
