Stench announces neighbour's demise

KARACHI:

With no one near the death bead, nature announced the death of an abandoned elderly by a stench that forced his neighbours to call the police.

An elderly man's several-days-old body was found inside a house in the Lines Area. Police called in a volunteer service to shift the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where the deceased was identified as 72-year-old Abdul Qayyum.

Reportedly, the deceased lived alone in the house and his neighbours alerted police after noticing a foul odor coming from the deceased's residence.

Initial investigations revealed that the man suffered from heart-related health issues, and likely died due to a fatal head injury sustained after falling from the stairs.

The deceased's family has been contacted, with his exact cause of death to be determined after post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, Clifton police received a report about a man's body, found with a gunshot wound, at a house in Shah Rasool Colony. It is suspected he committed suicide.

The body was taken into custody and shifted to JPMC where the deceased was identified as 65-year-old Arshad Mehmood.

According to initial investigations, Arshad committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol.

The deceased was unmarried, lived alone, and had reportedly been suffering from psychological issues.
