Marvel Rivals will receive its first player-versus-environment (PVE) mode later this month, expanding its gameplay beyond traditional team-based battles.

The new update introduces a zombie-themed survival mode inspired by Marvel’s Zombies mini-series on Disney+.

Developer NetEase confirmed that the mode will launch on October 23, bringing a cooperative experience where players face continuous waves of enemies across evolving stages.

The playable roster includes Thor, Blade, Magik, Jeff, and The Punisher, each equipped with abilities designed for large-scale combat against the undead.

Thor can strike with lightning in an “Awakened” state, Blade gains Moon Blades to enhance close-range attacks, Magik can remain in Darkchild form indefinitely, and Jeff can charge through hordes of zombies.

Players will also encounter zombie Namor during the event, with NetEase suggesting that other well-known Marvel characters may appear in zombified form.

The developer described the new mode as a “survival horde” experience, combining fast-paced combat with distinctive superhero powers.

It marks the game’s first step into narrative-driven cooperative play, integrating familiar faces and settings from the broader Marvel universe.

Since its release, Marvel Rivals has been praised for its hero-based combat and regular updates, and this latest addition reflects NetEase’s continued focus on expanding the game’s modes and seasonal content.

The zombie-themed event is also timed alongside Halloween, offering players limited-time challenges and themed rewards.

With its mix of action, teamwork, and comic-inspired visuals, Marvel Rivals: Zombies introduces a new way for players to experience the game’s universe.

The PVE mode will be available to all players starting October 23, marking a significant addition to NetEase’s growing multiplayer title.
