Playboi Carti charged with assault after alleged altercation with girlfriend and limo driver in Utah
The 30-year-old rapper was headed to Antagonist Tour rehearsals when the incident occurred

Playboi Carti has been charged with misdemeanour assault following an alleged altercation involving his girlfriend, a security guard and a limousine driver in Utah on October 2.
The 30-year-old rapper, born Jordan Terrell Carter, was reportedly en route to rehearsals for his Antagonist Tour when the incident occurred near River Road and US Route 40, according to police documents cited by KSL and TMZ.
Deputies from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a fight and spoke with Carti, his girlfriend, the limo driver and a security guard.
The driver, identified as Carl Reynolds, told officers that Carti and his girlfriend began arguing during the journey from Park City to Orem. He claimed the situation escalated to the point that he felt unsafe and attempted to separate the pair by placing them in different vehicles.
According to the police report, Carti allegedly became upset and hit his girlfriend after everyone exited the cars. Reynolds said he did not see the moment of contact but witnessed her “hunched over” and “holding near her chest.”
The driver further alleged that Carti then punched him in the face while his head was turned. Deputies noted visible redness and marks on Reynolds’ jaw consistent with physical contact.
Carti allegedly admitted to striking Reynolds “for stopping in a weird place,” though his girlfriend reportedly told police she had hit the driver, while Carti’s security guard said he elbowed him. The rapper was cited at the scene and later charged with misdemeanour assault in Wasatch County.
Neither representatives for Carti nor the sheriff’s office provided comment. The incident follows previous legal issues for the rapper, who faced separate assault charges in 2022 involving his then-pregnant girlfriend.
