Three killed in 'encounters'
Three men were killed in separate police encounters across Lahore while their accomplices managed to escape, according to Crime Control Department (CCD) officials.
The officials stated that one incident occurred in Kahna, where a suspect in CCD custody was killed during an encounter.
According to CCD a spokesperson, police were taking the detained suspect, Sohail alias Shani, for 'identification' when his accomplices ambushed them in an attempt to free him. During a crossfire between the police and the attackers, the suspect was killed allegedly by bullets fired by his accomplices.
The attackers managed to flee before the police could apprehend them.
In a separate incident in Charar Gawan area of Defence, a suspected robber identified as Sher Afzal was killed, reportedly by firing from his accomplices during a police encounter. The third encounter took place in the Karol area of Civil Lines, where suspect Muhammad Hussain was killed during an exchange of fire. The police launched investigations into all.three incidents and said they were conducting raids to arrest the accomplices of the deceased responsible for their deaths.
Meanwhile, the Dolphin Squad arrested a proclaimed offender wanted by Sheikhupura police in a murder case.
According to a spokesperson, a team apprehended the suspect on suspicion near Akbari Gate. Upon checking his criminal record, it was revealed that he was a Category-A proclaimed offender. A murder case was registered against the accused at Ferozewala Police Station in Sheikhupura.
