Britney Spears responds to Kevin Federline memoir allegations about sons and family concerns

Britney Spears addresses allegations from Kevin Federline’s new memoir, where he shares troubling claims about her

Pop star Britney Spears has responded to claims made by her ex-husband Kevin Federline in his forthcoming memoir You Thought You Knew. According to People magazine, Federline expressed deep concern for Spears and their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, while describing troubling incidents from their past.

In the book, Federline reportedly alleges that their sons once told him about unsettling encounters with Spears during their teenage years. Citing The New York Times, he writes that the boys occasionally woke up at night to find their mother standing silently in their doorway, holding a knife. “Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation,” he allegedly recalled.

Federline, 47, also claimed that he fears Spears’ current situation is “racing toward something irreversible,” adding, “Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”

In response, a representative for Spears, 43, issued a statement to People, saying, “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin.” The spokesperson emphasized that Spears’ focus remains on her children’s well-being, stating, “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism.”

Spears, who detailed her own experiences in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, has not publicly commented beyond the representative’s statement. The pair married in 2004, welcomed two sons, and divorced in 2007.

Federline also wrote that he believes the “Free Britney” movement—credited with ending Spears’ 13-year conservatorship—may have ultimately done more harm than good.
