Criss Angel has shocked fans with an explosive online post accusing his wife, Shaunyl Benson, of destroying their family as their long and complicated relationship comes to an end once again. The illusionist, best known for his hit television show Criss Angel Mindfreak, confirmed the breakup through a dramatic message shared to Instagram, calling out a ‘narcissist’ and thanking fans for their support during what he described as a painful time.
The 57-year-old Las Vegas magician, who has been one of the most recognisable figures in the world of illusion, wrote, “Today I stopped following a narcissist, somebody who destroyed a beautiful family in pursuit of another man.” He added, “Please do not support someone who has damaged the lives of beautiful children and everyone around them. Thank you all for your love and support during this very difficult time.”
Angel also quietly changed his Instagram bio to read ‘Single Father of 3 Beautiful Kids ❤️’ and unfollowed his wife. The pair share three children together: Johnny, aged 11, Xristos Yanni, aged six, and Illusia, aged three. Their eldest son, Johnny, previously battled leukaemia but has been cancer free since 2022, a struggle the family publicly faced together.

Without naming her husband, she admitted she had once sent a message to a rock star when she felt lonely but insisted nothing came of it. Over recent months, Benson has shared a series of cryptic and spiritual posts about honesty, pain and self-growth. One message read, “Let’s talk lies and how it’s actually a form of black magic.” In another, she wrote, “When they come to burn you down but they forget you come doused in gasoline. I dare you to light the match, because the fire will only help me rise.”
The couple’s ongoing social media drama has captivated followers, with fans divided over who to believe. Angel, whose real name is Christopher Sarantakos, remains one of Las Vegas’s biggest stage performers, starring in his long running show MINDFREAK LIVE! at Planet Hollywood.
