Trio held in Haripur fake lift fraud
Police in Haripur have arrested three members of a gang accused of defrauding citizens by offering fake lifts and stealing their money, officials said on Tuesday.
The suspects were involved in cheating and fraud, tricking people into accepting lifts in their car before snatching cash and valuables. During the operation, police recovered Rs80,000 in stolen cash and the vehicle used in the crimes.
Under the supervision of DPO Farhan Khan, Haripur police have intensified their crackdown on criminal elements across the district. Multiple incidents of fraud had been reported near Shakar Shah Ziarat and GT Road, close to Hazara Oil Shop, where citizens were deceived by the gang. Following complaints from the victims, two separate FIRs were registered at the City Police Station (FIR No. 736 and FIR No. 759) under Sections 419, 420, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
City Police Station SHO Rizwan Khan, along with the investigation team, arrested the three suspects identified as:
Shehbaz Khan, son of Altaf Hussain, resident of Abbottabad, currently living in Islamabad. Nazaqat Ali, son of Mohabbat Khan, resident of Shimla Pahari, Abbottabad. Umar Khan, son of Nazaqat Khan, resident of Shimla Pahari, Abbottabad. Police also seized Rs80,000 in cash and the car used during the crimes. Further investigation is underway.
