Extortion threat to JDC chief; police arrest three

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Karachi Police arrested three individuals belonging to an international extortion gang during a raid in the Jafar Tayyar area of Malir. The suspects had allegedly demanded a staggering Rs140 million per month in extortion from the head of JDC Foundation, a leading philonthropist organisation of Pakistan.

According to SIU spokesperson, the gang had threatened JDC Foundation head Zafar Abbas, demanding Rs140 million monthly — amounting to Rs1.64 billion annually. A case was registered at Tipu Sultan Police Station on September 26, and the investigation was later handed over to the SIU. The three accused were identified as Yawar Abbas, Manzar Kazmi, and Mohsin Wasti.
