The Consumer Court of Jehlum has ordered Leopard Courier Service to pay Rs50,000 in damages after a resident's valuables were damaged due to the company's poor service.
The case was among 12 transferred from Gujrat following the Punjab Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act 2025, which empowered district and additional session judges to function as consumer courts at the local level. Consumer Court Judge Gulzar Ahmad Khalid promptly took up the cases, resolving nine within a month.
The complainant, Aniq Ahmad Abid, argued that the courier company failed to safeguard his goods during delivery. After reviewing evidence and arguments, the court ruled that Leopard Courier was responsible for negligence. The judgment serves as a warning to private courier firms to ensure quality services and protect consumer rights.
