Improvements in air quality forecast urged

LAHORE:

The Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Technical Committee has approved a newly developed model for five-day air quality forecasting.

The committee recommended improvements, which the officials concerned.pledged to incorporate.

The mechanism designed to provide short-term predictions of air quality across Punjab was reviewed in a meeting chaired by EPA Director General Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh.

A deputy director and a data analyst from the Strategy and Analysis Wing presented the details, explaining that the model is based on real-time monitoring data collected across the province and integrates international forecasting methodologies to ensure greater accuracy.
