Actor Tyrese Gibson faces misdemeanor warrant
Fulton County authorities have issued a misdemeanor warrant for actor and singer Tyrese Gibson following an incident in which one of his Cane Corso dogs allegedly killed a neighbor’s pet. The tragic event has drawn significant public attention, with Gibson now facing criticism and legal consequences for the actions of his dog.
According to Captain Nicole Dwyer of Fulton County Police Animal Services, the warrant stems from alleged negligence on Gibson’s part. “It is the negligence on his part as the homeowner and animal owner, just letting them roam free,” Dwyer said in a statement. “And now they have killed an innocent animal.”
The incident reportedly occurred while Tyrese was not home. In response, his attorney, Gabe Banks, issued a statement to TMZ expressing condolences to the neighbor and outlining the steps Gibson has taken. “Mr. Tyrese Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home,” Banks said. He added that Gibson had “immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment.”
Banks confirmed Gibson’s full cooperation with authorities and emphasized that the entertainer is addressing the matter through the appropriate legal channels. “Mr. Gibson asks for privacy and understanding as this matter is handled… and as he remains committed to the safety of his community and the well-being of all animals,” the statement concluded.
Tyrese addressed the situation indirectly by posting a captionless video to Instagram, showing his dogs alongside a clip from The Breakfast Club where the incident was discussed. The post sparked mixed reactions, with some users criticizing Tyrese for not securing his dogs, while others defended him and questioned the neighbor’s account.
The case remains under investigation as Tyrese works with legal representatives to resolve the matter.
