Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has shared a distressing update about his longtime companion Roscoe, revealing that the bulldog is currently in a coma. The 12-year-old pet has been a familiar presence in the paddock for years, often accompanying Hamilton to Grand Prix weekends around the world.

Hamilton disclosed the situation on social media, explaining that Roscoe had suffered a severe health setback. According to Hamilton, Roscoe contracted pneumonia and was admitted to a veterinary hospital after struggling to breathe. During treatment, his heart stopped but was successfully restarted by veterinarians. Roscoe was then placed in a coma, with his condition remaining uncertain.

“Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts,” Hamilton wrote in a post on Instagram. He added, “They managed to get a heartbeat back and now he’s in a coma. We don’t know whether he will wake from this. Tomorrow we’ll try to wake him up. I’m by his side and want to thank you all for your prayers and support.”

The British driver had been scheduled to take part in a Ferrari Pirelli tire test at Mugello earlier this week but was replaced by Zhou Guanyu. While Ferrari did not specify a reason for the change, Hamilton’s absence appears linked to his desire to remain with Roscoe during the health crisis.

Hamilton has frequently spoken about his bond with Roscoe, describing him as part of his family. Over the years, Roscoe has become a recognizable figure in the paddock, even earning his own following on social media.

As of now, Hamilton continues to remain by his dog’s side, awaiting further updates from medical staff.
