After just a few hours with Battlefield 6’s campaign, it’s clear this isn’t some tacked-on singleplayer mode—it’s a full-blown, high-quality blockbuster. While multiplayer often dominates the spotlight, this campaign proves EA has taken solo play seriously this time around.

Set in 2027, the story unfolds across a world in chaos, with players stepping into the boots of U.S. Marines fighting in global hotspots—from Gibraltar to Tajikistan to the streets of Brooklyn. Each mission feels unique in setting, tone, and gameplay. There’s a cinematic flair to the experience, but it’s backed by real substance, depth, and character development.

Surprisingly, squad interactions are more thoughtful than expected. One standout moment saw a teammate emotionally unravel after a firefight, prompting the game to shift objectives and ask you to check on them—humanizing the chaos of war in a subtle, powerful way.

Combat offers more than just run-and-gun action. A squad command wheel lets you issue tactical orders, adding a layer of strategy to encounters. While it’s not quite XCOM, it encourages smarter play and highlights the unique strengths of each class.

Mission 8 was a highlight—an open-ended, Far Cry-style level with multiple objectives, varied approaches, and tons of replayability. With hidden collectibles and branching paths, it offers more freedom than any campaign in recent Battlefield history.

While Battlefield 2042 skipped singleplayer entirely, Battlefield 6 feels like a course correction. From its rich narrative to its tactical gameplay mechanics, it’s clear EA understands the importance of delivering a compelling solo experience.

Come launch day on October 10, the campaign won’t just be an afterthought—it’s shaping up to be a must-play in its own right.
