Singer-songwriter d4vd is facing renewed scrutiny after online discussions linked his latest album ‘Withered’ to the tragic case of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas. The teen’s body was found earlier this month inside a Tesla belonging to the artist, prompting a homicide investigation. Now, fans are poring over his music for possible connections, focusing heavily on the themes and tracklist of ‘Withered.’

The album, released earlier in 2025, contains songs with haunting titles such as ‘Ghost,’ ‘One More Dance,’ and ‘Afterlife.’ Listeners have pointed out the eerie sequencing: ‘Ghost’ appears third from last, followed by ‘One More Dance’ and then ‘Afterlife’ as the closer. Some interpret this as resembling a final sequence, a presence fading, a last moment together, and ultimately a crossing into the afterlife. The parallels have led to speculation that the project was inspired by Celeste’s disappearance.

Adding to the controversy, a claim circulating online alleges that d4vd admitted ‘Withered’ was written about Celeste and that her voice was sampled in some of the tracks. These claims have not been confirmed by authorities or the artist’s team, but they have fuelled intense debate among fans and critics.

Factually, Celeste’s body was described by investigators as being in an advanced state of decomposition when discovered on 8 September. The album’s title ‘Withered’ has therefore taken on a chilling resonance for those drawing connections between art and reality. Some online commentators suggest d4vd projects his experiences onto his music in symbolic ways, even depicting his own death in past videos as a kind of mirroring technique.

At this stage, no evidence has been presented to directly link the songs to Celeste Rivas, nor has it been officially verified that her voice was used in his recordings. However, the disturbing timing and themes have kept speculation alive, with fans dissecting both the lyrical content and visuals surrounding the album.

Authorities have confirmed only the discovery of Celeste’s remains in the Tesla and the ongoing homicide investigation. Until further details emerge, interpretations of ‘Withered’ remain speculative, a mix of rumour, symbolism, and unresolved questions.
