The clip, which showed Byron with his arms around Cabot before they both ducked away, quickly fueled headlines, memes, and rumors of an affair.

But according to a source speaking exclusively to People, those assumptions were wrong. The insider stressed that while the interaction was “inappropriate,” Cabot and Byron were not having an affair.

At the time, Cabot and her husband were already separated, and she filed for divorce weeks later. The source also noted that her husband attended the same concert with someone else.

Both Byron and Cabot resigned from Astronomer in the aftermath, as the company said its leadership standards had not been met.
