Astronomer, a leading platform in the DataOps and AI infrastructure space, has announced the resignation of CEO Andy Byron.
The company’s Board of Directors has accepted his resignation and confirmed that Pete DeJoy, co-founder and Chief Product Officer, will continue in the role of interim CEO while a search begins for a permanent replacement.
The decision comes amid a period of increased public scrutiny, though Astronomer did not address any specific external event in its statement.
Instead, the company emphasized its long-standing commitment to integrity, accountability, and the internal culture that has defined its mission since its founding.
“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,” the statement read. “Recently, that standard was not met.”

While acknowledging the sudden spike in public attention, Astronomer reaffirmed that its mission and product direction remain steady.
“Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI. While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not.”
Astronomer closed its statement by reiterating its focus on supporting customers as they navigate complex data and AI challenges.
The leadership transition comes as the company continues expanding its role in the fast-evolving AI-driven enterprise landscape, aiming to move forward with renewed focus and stability.
