Man gets 6 years injail for sharing girl's photos on Facebook
A judicial magistrate (East) has sentenced a man to six years in prison for uploading a girl's private photographs on Facebook after she rejected his marriage proposal.
The court found Abdullah Saleem guilty of creating a fake Facebook profile, posting inappropriate images of the complainant, and attempting to blackmail her. Along with imprisonment, he was also fined Rs60,000.
According to Prosecutor Shiraz Rajpar, the complainant had initially developed a friendship with the accused, which led to an informal engagement. However, after witnessing his inappropriate behaviour, she ended the relationship. During that period, the accused had obtained her personal photos and later misused them.
The prosecution presented forensic evidence from the accused's mobile phone, which confirmed he had created the fake profile. The Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cybercrime Wing had registered the case against him.
The court remarked that the prosecution successfully established the charges and the evidence clearly reflected the accused's anger and vindictiveness.
