Jimmy Kimmel’s cousin and long-time collaborator Sal Iacono has fuelled speculation about the future of Jimmy Kimmel Live! after hinting there are still “a couple bombshells” yet to emerge in the aftermath of the show’s suspension.
Speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast on Sunday night, Iacono, also known for his comedy work as ‘Cousin Sal,’ admitted he was reluctant to speak openly while the show’s staff face uncertainty. But his comments suggested more revelations could be on the horizon.
“I wish I could say anything. There are a couple bombshells still there,” Iacono said. “I’m feeling good. We’re going to be all right. Everything’s going to be just fine.”
Kimmel’s late-night programme was abruptly pulled from ABC’s schedule last week after remarks he made about the MAGA movement’s response to conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The move came amid threats from FCC chairman Brendan Carr and resistance from several affiliate networks. While discussions continue with ABC parent company Disney, the show’s crew is still being paid.
Iacono described the past week as “tumultuous” and recounted a family gathering where Kimmel’s children broke the ice on the subject. According to Iacono, Kimmel responded with humour, telling his son to reassure classmates by saying, “My cousin Jimmy is an excellent dancer.”
Despite refusing to share details, Iacono’s words left the impression that significant updates could be imminent. Bill Simmons, a former writer for the show, added that Kimmel would “be fine, whatever he wants to do,” joking that he could even reinvent himself as a chef.
For now, the future of Jimmy Kimmel Live! remains in limbo, but Iacono’s remarks suggest the story is far from over.
