Harasser targets couple in armed attack

RAWALPINDI:

Police in Chaklala have registered a case after a woman accused a man of persistent harassment, threats and an armed confrontation that damaged her vehicle.

The complainant, identified only by initials NB, told police that the accused, named as Samir Nisar, began stalking her during school commuting hours and repeatedly harassed her. He allegedly dropped a mobile number slip into her vehicle; when she confronted him, he continued to pester and then began threatening her and her family.

NB said she informed her husband about the harassment. After he intervened, the accused allegedly obtained contact numbers of her relatives and spread false stories about her, damaging her reputation. She says she filed complaints earlier with the FIA, the Airport police and other forums, but the situation escalated.

According to the complaint, on Saturday she and her husband, Muhammad Usman Siddiqui, were in their car in Dhok Chaudhrian for business when the accused pulled his vehicle in front of theirs to block their way. After a struggle to move their car, the accused returned, rammed their vehicle from the driver's side and deliberately blocked them again at Car Chowk. He is alleged to have approached their vehicle brandishing a pistol and ordered them to get out.

The couple locked themselves inside, but the accused reportedly struck the rear windshield with the pistol's butt, broke it, and attempted to force his way into the car while threatening to kill them. The complainant says she called police on 15, whereupon the accused fled the scene firing further threats.

Chaklala police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations. No arrests have been reported so far. Authorities said the probe is under way and further action will follow based on the inquiry.
