12 anti-dengue workers fired in Rawalpindi for faking attendance
Atleast 12 workers and supervisors engaged in the city’s anti-dengue campaign who were absent from duty but marked their attendance through fraudulent means have been dismissed from service.
The health department confirmed that both male and female staff were found sending fake photographs to claim presence during inspections. Further inquiries are underway into negligence during the anti-dengue campaign.
Meanwhile, anti-dengue efforts continue across the district as 20 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours. The total number of patients in Rawalpindi has now reached 394, with 81 currently under treatment in city hospitals, including 38 confirmed cases. No fatalities have been reported this season.

Earlier this month, health officials had warned that dengue cases in Rawalpindi and nearby Murree were climbing at a faster pace compared to last year. At the time, 51 cases were confirmed in Rawalpindi and 56 in Murree, with thousands of larvae-breeding sites detected during inspections. Authorities had already sealed hundreds of sites and registered FIRs against SOP violations.
In addition, schools in Rawalpindi were placed under strict anti-dengue SOPs, with the Education Department banning chemical sprays, making full-sleeve uniforms compulsory, and introducing a daily “zero period” focused on dengue prevention.

The federal government has launched the National Anti-Dengue Campaign 2025, with Health Minister Mustafa Kamal stressing that prevention must remain the central focus and urging citizens to adopt safe practices to eliminate mosquito breeding.
In 2025 so far, 80,041 individuals have been screened nationally. Dengue surveillance teams inspected 4,982,897 households and discovered larvae at 130,336 locations inside homes. Additionally, 148,198 larvae were recovered from open spots, all of which were destroyed.
Authorities also registered 3,894 FIRs for violations of dengue SOPs, sealed 1,722 sites, issued 3,304 challans, and imposed fines amounting to Rs9.784 million.
Over the past 24 hours, dengue cases were reported from localities including Rehmatabad, Kotha Kalan, Lakhan, Fauji Colony, Satellite Town, Shakrial North, Girja, and Imambargah Mohallah.
