Amazon Prime Video has announced that The Summer I Turned Pretty will officially continue with a feature film, following the conclusion of the hit YA drama’s third and final season.
The movie will serve as the last chapter in the beloved story created by Jenny Han.
Plot details remain under wraps, but Amazon confirmed that the film will directly follow the events of the series finale. Han, who authored the original book trilogy and developed the Prime Video adaptation, will write the screenplay. The announcement was revealed at the show’s season 3 finale red carpet event in Paris, where fans celebrated the end of the series and the beginning of its next phase.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” Han said in a statement. “I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
The YA series has been a global streaming success, with the season 3 debut drawing 25 million viewers worldwide within its first week. Known for its heartfelt themes of young love, friendship, and family, The Summer I Turned Pretty has resonated with audiences across multiple generations.
Lola Tung leads the cast alongside Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, and Jackie Chung. Han will co-showrun and executive produce the film with Sarah Kucserka, alongside Karen Rosenfelt and wiip executives.
With Prime Video’s backing, the upcoming The Summer I Turned Pretty movie is expected to deliver an emotional send-off for fans worldwide.
