Minecraft YouTuber nears ‘End of the World’ goal after 14 years of play

Kurt began his quest back in 2011 with a series called Far Lands or Bust

For over a decade, YouTuber KurtJMac has been on a legendary journey through Minecraft, walking entirely on foot toward one of the game’s most infamous glitches: the Far Lands. This distorted terrain, caused by a generation bug in early versions of Minecraft, appears over 12 million blocks from the original spawn point and was removed in later updates — but it remains a mythic destination for longtime fans.

Kurt began his quest back in 2011 with a series called Far Lands or Bust, aiming to not only reach this bizarre location but also raise money for charity along the way. What makes his journey even more impressive is that he’s been doing it all in Survival mode, without teleporting or cheating — just walking block by block for 14 years.

Recently, fellow Minecraft content creator AntVenom revealed that Kurt is now tantalizingly close to his goal. By analyzing rare moments when Kurt pressed the F3 debug menu — just 12 times over the entire journey — AntVenom estimated that he’s now within 200,000 blocks of the Far Lands. Based on Kurt’s usual pace of around three hours per stream, he could be less than 24 hours of walking away from completing the challenge.

Though the Far Lands were patched out of modern Minecraft versions, they’ve become a symbol of the game’s early mystery — a chaotic edge of the world made up of jagged walls, tunnels, and glitched chasms. For many in the Minecraft community, watching KurtJMac finally reach the Far Lands isn’t just about nostalgia or persistence — it’s witnessing the end of a journey that has quietly defined an era of the game.
