Kanye West and Elon Musk open up about their high-profile breakups and parenting struggles in a revealing moment from West’s new documentary In Whose Name?.

In a scene obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the rapper and the Tesla CEO are seen lounging on a bed, candidly discussing their failed relationships. Musk asked West about the status of his relationship with Kim Kardashian, while also sharing details about his volatile dynamic with Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher.

“Clare and I, Grimes, we’re sort of in the same text stream, she’s like, ‘I love you.’ And then like, a day later, like, ‘I hate you,’” Musk said. West admitted he had no answers, adding, “Answers to everything except for that.”

Both men have faced intense public scrutiny over their personal lives. West, 48, finalized his divorce from Kardashian in 2021 after seven years of marriage. The pair co-parent four children — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — and have clashed publicly over education and lifestyle choices.

Musk, 54, and Grimes were together from 2018 to 2022 and share three children. Their relationship has been marked by custody disputes and ongoing legal battles.

The documentary also addresses the controversies surrounding both men. West lost major brand partnerships, including Adidas, after antisemitic remarks, while Musk has faced backlash for his handling of hate speech on X, formerly Twitter.

In Whose Name? opens in select theaters Friday and features an emotional appearance from Kardashian, who confronts West about his changed personality.
