Nicholas Brown, a respected business manager who worked with some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, has died at the age of 75. Brown passed away unexpectedly on September 5 in Santa Barbara, California. No cause of death has been disclosed.
Over a career spanning five decades, Brown managed the finances and business affairs of global stars including Michael Jackson, George Michael, Aerosmith, Stevie Nicks, Neil Diamond, Morrissey, the Cure, Boy George and Culture Club, Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra, Dave Navarro, and actor Michael Caine. His work covered a broad range of responsibilities—tour management, accounting, royalty tracking, tax planning, real estate, and catalog administration.
Originally from London, Brown later relocated to Los Angeles, where he continued his work at the intersection of entertainment and finance. He was known for his hands-on approach and adaptability, particularly in keeping up with technological and industry changes. “What used to be easy now has become complicated; we have to be constantly vigilant,” he said in a 2015 Variety profile that featured him in its “Business Managers Elite” list.
Aerosmith co-founder and drummer Joey Kramer paid tribute, saying, “Nicholas was one of my best friends, and my business manager, for 38 years. He was everything that you could possibly want in a friend and advisor. I miss him dearly.”
Outside of his professional work, Brown earned a master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica in 2009 and remained active in volunteer work. He served on the boards of multiple charitable organizations, including Hands and Hearts of Hope Foundation and the EduCare Foundation, which focuses on empowering young people through education and leadership.
Brown is survived by his wife, Gabriella Taylor, and sons Jesse and Jerish.
