HBO Max chief Casey Bloys celebrates Emmy wins for The Pitt and teases White Lotus S4 setting
HBO Max celebrated a major victory at the 2025 Emmy Awards after its medical drama The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series, defeating Apple TV+’s Severance, the most-nominated program of the year. The win capped off a night where HBO Max tied Netflix for the most Emmy wins with 30 in total. According to Deadline, The Pitt earned five awards, including acting honors for Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa, and recognition for casting.
Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, praised the accomplishment during the network’s post-Emmy celebration. He emphasized that The Pitt represents a rare model for streaming—a modest budget, 15-episode seasons, and a quick turnaround with Season 2 already slated for January 2026. Bloys described the Emmy victory as “a huge deal” for creators John Wells, R. Scott Gemmill, and Wyle.
Bloys also acknowledged surprises of the night, including Jeff Hiller’s win for Somebody Somewhere and Hannah Einbinder’s first Emmy for Hacks. Meanwhile, Colin Farrell lost in his category for The Penguin, and The White Lotus went home empty-handed in supporting categories despite multiple nominations. Bloys suggested the latter show’s success may have diluted votes.
During the interview, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav joined in, crediting Bloys with keeping HBO at peak strength. Bloys dismissed long-running speculation about HBO’s decline, noting that under his leadership since 2016, the network has consistently won top awards across drama, comedy, and limited series.
Looking ahead, Bloys confirmed that The White Lotus Season 4 will be set in France, while new installments of House of the Dragon, Industry, and Euphoria are scheduled for 2026. He also hinted at developments for True Detective and upcoming projects like The Big Bang Theory spinoff and the long-awaited Harry Potter series, which is expected in 2027 (Deadline).
