After more than a decade of publishing Rick and Morty comic books, Oni Press has confirmed the end of its long-running series with the upcoming launch of Rick and Morty: The End. The announcement follows a cryptic teaser earlier this week that simply featured the titular characters facing “The End,” prompting concern among fans.
Oni Press clarified the teaser in a recent press release, officially revealing that Rick and Morty: The End will serve as the concluding storyline for the franchise under their label. The six-issue miniseries is set to debut on December 3, 2025, and will be written by Daniel Kibblesmith (Loki) with artwork by Jarrett Williams (Speed Force).
The story follows Rick Sanchez, now the most wanted individual across all known universes. With an interdimensional bounty on his head, Rick is pursued by an eclectic mix of forces including governments, pirates, bounty hunters, and even circus clowns. Morty Smith, who knows Rick better than anyone, may be the only person capable of capturing him alive. However, Morty faces competition from Space Beth Smith, who is also determined to bring Rick in — regardless of the consequences.
Currently, Kibblesmith is helming the larger crossover event Rick and Morty Versus the Universe, which involves the duo being hunted by not just their original universe but their current one as well — humorously called the Parmesan Universe, where everything is the same except for how “Parmesan” is pronounced.
While Rick and Morty comics have explored various wild, universe-spanning scenarios before, Oni Press hinted this may be the definitive conclusion. The publisher stated: “This title is not some kind of artful metaphor, folks! After 10 years and 100+ issues, the beginning of The End starts here.”
Though no official statement has confirmed whether Oni Press will retain the Rick and Morty license beyond this series, Rick and Morty: The End strongly suggests a final chapter for the publisher’s long-standing run.
