In a step towards the rehabilitation and reform of juvenile prisoners, the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) has launched a modern skills training program. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between STEVTA and the Tasawwur-e-Umeed Foundation at the central jail, regarding the initiative.
Following the signing, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh and Chairperson of STEVTA, Junaid Buland, visited the jail and met with incarcerated children. He announced that more than 24,000 juvenile prisoners across 14 jails in the province will be provided technical training, enabling them to secure respectable employment after their release. Buland stated, "under the Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative, more than 17 technical fields are being activated, including various vocational and technical courses."
During his visit, Buland noted that the only way to eliminate poverty and crime is through education and skill development, and expressed hope that equipping juvenile prisoners with skills will help them transform into productive members of society.
